No adult tooth02/15/2006 |
My daughter has no adult tooth on the bottom ,her third from the back. she had root canal done a few years ago and now they say its about to fall out. They said she would have to get braces when it falls out because shes too young for an implant. shes almost 15 and doent want the braces. what is the reason they cant put a permanant tooth in now. Thank you Sandi
Most experts agree that implants should not be placed in a child's jaw until it is certain that her growth is complete. If her jaw continues to grow after the implant is placed, it may end up in the wrong position and need to be removed and replaced. Ideal treatment involves using braces to close the space instead of placing and maintaining an artificial replacement for life. It's always a good idea to get a second opinion, particularly in complicated cases like your daughter's.
