Pimple on the labia minora

02/21/2006

Question:

I had a pimple on my labia minora this week. It started out as a tender lump under the skin and over a couple of days it got bigger and more sore until it formed a whitehead. Since it has popped it stopped hurting and has gone away. Is this normal? Why does this happen? I have had this a couple of other times, the first time when I was 13 or 14 before I ever had sex, so I don`t suspect it is anything sexually transmitted. Thanks!

Answer:

The reasons for a pimple in this area is the same as skin anywhere. Shaving in that area can cause the skin to scar and pimples to form. Other than that, I can't add anything else from the gynecology standpoint.
