I brush and floss everyday,I went over a year between my last cleaning. At my resent cleaning everything was fine except for one deep pocket on my bottom molar were I had a pocket that went from a four to a nine. If the rest of my mouth is fine what could cause such an isolated problem?
The most common cause of pocketing is ineffective flossing and brushing. Crowding of teeth has some influence on one's ability to remove plaque. In addition, the last tooth in the mouth is sometimes difficult to keep clean due to partial coverage with tissue. A periodontist may be consulted to examine your particular situation.
