Curved nails02/28/2006 |
would like to know what it means when your fingernails grow curved after about 1/4 inch at the end of the nail also have ridges? Does it show a lack of something or indicate an illness?
Longitudal ridging in nails occurs in normal individuals as they age. Curving of the nails at the tip is not necessarily a sign of any underlying disorder. Dr. Richard K. Scher in New York City has written extensively and has published a textbook on nails and nail disease. You might wish to email/fax him a picture of your nails so that he might help you. His email is onychium@aol.com; his office fax is 212-486-0913. You might wish to go to your public library and in the medical section look for his textbook on nail disease.
Good luck!
