Ovarian cysts

03/06/2006

Question:

How quickly can they grow? and can they push on other organs to cause discomfort?

Answer:

The rate of growth of an ovarian cyst depends on what is causing them to grow. Typically, a functional cyst, one that is supposed to be there, grows over days to weeks. For an abnormal cyst, it can take weeks. There are so many factors that control growth when you consider ovarian cysts, it is impossible to predict the normal growth pattern.
