Bed wetting03/06/2006 |
Does parkinsons cause bedwetting, and what if so what stage is it in?
Urinary dysfunction and particularly, overactive bladder can occur in PD due to dysregulation of the autonomic nervous system. It is important to realize, however, that changes in pelvic muscles in women and prostate changes in men may also contribute to bladder problems. Often urinary symptoms are multifactorial in nature. Even medications can add to the problem.
If the issue begins suddenly, then it is important to seek out a thorough urological workup in a timely fashion. It is always a good idea to discuss urinary function with your doctor before problems become functionally impairing.
