Actonel and Esophageal Cancer03/15/2006 |
I have had extensive radiation and chemo to treat my esophageal cancer. My latest scan was clear. Question: Is it safe to take Actonel, considering the quite prominent warning on the label about harm to the esophogus? I have heard that Fosamax and/or Actonel can be given as an IV infusion. Would that be an option for me?
Because of potential scarring and strictures in your esophagus, it may be advisable for you to use another route of administration for your bone medication. Boniva just recently got approved for monthly IV infusion for osteoporosis.
