Esophageal Cancer Survival Rate03/27/2006 |
My sister a white female age 41 has just diagnosed with esophageal cancer. The stage has yet to be determined, but they have said that it has not spread to any other organs. She is having trouble eating from the tumor. I was wondering what the survival rate for her would be with the variety of treatment. Removal of part of esophagus, chemo and radiation.
This information will best determined after the staging is completed and realistically should be discussed with her doctor. The doctor will probably be using the most current information on survival with different modes of treatment, and will know the best type of chemotherapy to use in this situation.
Best of luck for you and your sister.
