Alzheimers and Strokes03/31/2006 |
My father-in-law had a minor stroke a few months back. He now believes that the stroke has caused the onset of Alzheimers. Do strokes bring on Alzheimers? I thought it was not known how and why people develop Alzheimers. Thank you for your time in this matter.
Yes, strokes can elicit the appearance of dementia. He should be evaluated by a neurologist and should pay attention to modifiable risk factors to enhance his health.
