Small red bumps05/02/2006 |
IM CONCERNED ABOUT MY DAUGHTER`S SKIN. SHE IS 19 MONTHS OLD AND THIS PAST WEEK IVE NOTICED TWO SMALL RED BUMPS ON HER LOWER STOMACH, A FEW ON HER BACK ONE BY HER SHOLDER, ONE BY HER WRIST AND FORARM. WE WENT TO THE DOCTOR AND HE SAID ITS FROM WATER WHEN SHE GOES SWIMMING. IN THE PAST 3 MONTHS SHE HAS ONLY GONE SWIMMING ONCE WHICH WAS ABOUT TWO TO THREE WEEKS AGO AND THAT WAS IN A POOL. COULD THE DOCTOR BE RIGHT OR COULD OT BE SOMETHING ELSE? THE REASON I AM QUESTIONING THE DOCTOR IS BECAUSE THE BUMPS ON HER WRIST AND FORARM ARE NEW AND IT WOULD SEEM STRANGE THAT NEW BUMPS SHOULD KEEP OCCURING? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS TO THIS?
In a 19 month old, in the spring of the year, the most likely cause of small red bumps would be insect bites. If the child has been playing in the yard, harvester mites might produce this condition. If that is not likely to be the problem, you might wish to see a board certified dermatologist who could examine the lesions and possibly biopsy them to arrive at an accurate diagnosis.
