How to decrease sebum production
08/31/2006 |
Question:
Is Isotretinoin, Accutane, the only thing that will decrease sebum production or are there any topicals or oral drugs that will do this?
Answer:
Accutane, and in some patients, hormonal therapies (such as oral contraceptives and spironolactone) are the only known sebum production producing agents used in dermatology. All other over the counter type therapies are used to wash away or sponge away the sebum, not to change the production.
