Breast Feeding

how to stop breastmilk from producing?

06/19/2006

Question:

i am just wondering how i can stop my milk from producing. i haven`t nursed in 2 days and i`m really hurting. just wondering if i need a prescription to dry me up.

Answer:

The best way to stop nursing is gradually. If that is not possible, then cold compresses over clean, cold, rolled cabbage leaves placed directly on the breasts for 20 minutes several times a day will diminish milk production. Alternately, you may buy Cabocreme @ www.cabocreme.com. Another option is to take Sudafed 60 mg daily for 2 or 3 days or until milk is no longer being produced. Mint and sage tea are also helpful. There is no prescription needed.
