What causes psuedo seizures

06/16/2006

Question:

What causes psuedo seizures, treatment for them and can they be brought on by the person having them just by wishing they could

Answer:

Pseudoseizures (or psychogenic non-epileptic seizures) are seizure-like symptoms that are not the result of electrical abnormalities in the brain. They occur because underlying psychological distress is converted into physical symptoms. People with pseudoseizures are not faking the seizures on purpose.
