Lower left back pain in area of kidney

06/21/2006

Question:

In the past month I have had two bouts of pain in that area in the middle of the night. Both while truning over. The last was excruciating. I have had three L3/L4 surgeries for left leg pain and it seems entirely different and more severe than what I have experienced with those medical issues. The pain leaves in less than a minute. On a pain scale of 1-10, I place this as a 9 and would pass out if it lasted longer.

The last one took me to my knees. It does not feel like a cramp and feels to be deep in the back. No discoloration of urine has been noted and no similar pains in other areas have occured.

Answer:

It is impossible to diagnose conditions over the internet, however the problems that you describe could be related to your previous area of surgery, however unlikely.
