Tick bite07/18/2006 |
My fiance was bitten by a tick two weeks ago and removed it completely, but since then he has had a red puss filled sore that always itches therefore won`t heal. Is there anything he/I can do or be worried about?
Persistent erythema and even expanding redness from a tick bite would be a concern. Persistent drainage is also of some concern. You did not give me your geographical location. In many areas of the country lyme disease can begin as you describe it. Also Rocky Mountain Tick Fever can begin as you describe it. Your board certified dermatologist and/or infectious disease consultant should review your case in person. Biopsies may be indicated. Do not delay! Infectious disease borne by ticks can be serious.
