Eye and Vision Care
Sleeping and Torn Retina
I sleep mostly on my left side. I recently work up with a torn retina in my left eye. Everything was very smokey. I went to my eye doctor and was sent to an eye surgeon. There it was repaired. I still am seeing flashing lights in both my eyes.
I want to know if sleeping in a certain position for a long period of time could have caused the fluid in my eye to go over to one side of my eye and cause the tear in my retina?
No, there is not enough pressure from a pillow or mattress gently pressing against the left side of your face to cause a retinal detachment.
