Spontaneous, single duct discharge in a woman not breast feeding should be investigated. It is possible that you have developed a growth within the duct, called a papilloma. However, early breast cancers (both invasive and non-invasive types) can present with nipple discharge. It is very important to be evaluated by your physician. A mammogram and ultrasound should be performed, with a ductogram as well to evaluate the discharging duct.
