08/14/2006

Question:

I haven`t had a period for 15 months. For a time the hot flashes and inability to sleep subsided, however no they have come back with a vengance. It is difficult for me to funtion at work because I`m tired from lack of sleep and the frequent hot flashes are exhausting. I am ready to try HRT therapy. If I do will it cause me to begin my period again?

Answer:

Hormone therapy often causes periods to return if it is given in a cyclic method.  Taking hormone therapy in a very low dose in a continuous method frequently succeeds in preventing the return of periods.
