Taste bud problem

08/23/2006

Question:

Why would a taste bud come out of its place. It now has a white tip on it and the rest is redder than the taste buds on my tongue. It does hurt a little.

Answer:

Inflamed taste buds are very common.  The primary reason for the change is usually trauma.  This can be from hot, spicy, or hard foods that can cause local inflammation.  Biting your tongue is another very common cause.  In 7-10 days, it should be back to normal.  If not, contact your dental professional.
