Hole in gums in front tooth09/05/2006 |
The front of the gums on my lower left incisor seems to be coming loose. I now have a hole in that spot that is painful to the touch, and, when I look at it, I can see the top of the root. I brush my teeth daily, usually twice, use mouthwash, and floss regularly. What is causing this, and how can I get it fixed?
See a periodontist (gum specialist). Sometimes local factors such as trauma from brush, food, etc. may cause gums to recess, especially if you have a thin type of gum structure to start with.
