Allergies

Allergic to bandaid glue & medical tape

09/08/2006

Question:

I`m allergic to bandaid glue and medical adhesive tape. Both products that I use are latex free. I have a burn that I`ve been covering up for the past few days with a non-stick pad and medical adhesive tape. The area that the tape is on is red, inflammed and itchy. I noticed this quite often when using a (latex-free) bandaid as well. What other products can I use that won`t irritate my skin more then my burn? I really need to keep this burn coverd but I doubt my skin around it will tolerate this tape much longer. Thanks for any suggestions :)

Answer:

Use a gauze wrap around the site.  This can be purchased in the pharmacy and tape can be applied to hold the gauze in place without coming in contact with the skin.
