Perimenopausal periods

09/06/2006

Question:

You very helpfully answered my previous question and suggested use of a cycled progesterone pill. Could you tell me the name of such a pill please.

Answer:

There are several possibilities:

Prometrium - natural progesterone in peanut oil.  Not advised for people allergic to peanuts.

Provera or generic medroxyprogesterone acetate - a synthetic progestogen that has been around for many years and is usually less expensive.
