I have taken one intravenous dose of Zometa and am due for the second. Is Zometa associated with bone death?
High doses of intravenous bisphosphonates have been associated with poor healing in the jaw bone after dental procedures primarily in patients with cancer. It is a rare event, but to be cautious you can discontinue the medication if you need to have a dental procedure that involves the bone. You can restart the medication once you have completely healed from the procedure.
