Within the past couple of days my skin will produce red bumps and whelps after scratching the spot. I do have eczema, but I didn`t know if that had anything to do with it. It`s never done this before. What is it and is it normal?
You are describing acute urticaria or hives. These are usually allergic responses (type I) and usually respond to antihistamines. There are medications over-the-counter, such as Benadryl, which are effective in treating most of these acute processes. The nonsedating antihistamines, also used for this process, require a physician's prescription. I would urge you to see your board certified dermatologist who may help you in the care of your "eczema" and your urticaria.
