Taking Actonel for more than 2 years10/27/2006 |
I have been taking Actonel for 2 years now, I just had a bone density test & the results are good. The Dr. said I could stop taking the drug or continue on for 2 more years. What are the advantages of taking it for 2 more years? Will I see more improvement?
It is hard to say if your bone density will continue to improve. If your density is near the normal range, you could stop taking the drug for a year or two and then recheck the density. The bone density will not stay where it is indefinitely. You will eventually start to lose bone again.
