Menopause

Bacterial Vaginosis

10/26/2006

Question:

I have had recurring Bacterial Vaginosis for over 7 yrs now, once I finish the medicine a week later, I start having the symptoms all over again, I have been treated with the two drugs available the whole time, switching back and forth, nothing works for long, If I get a D&C do you think that could solve my problem ? I`m tired nothing I do works please help.

I also think by being on these medicines for so long, I could eventually have an adverse effect.

Answer:

A D&C is of no benefit for BV.  A D&C has to do with the uterus and BV is a vaginal problem.  You might try eating plain yogurt with active lactobacilli culture to help restore normal vaginal flora.
