In reference to this question and answer:Question: Since I have an electrolyte imbalance which sends me into dehydrated shock conditions, what are my options for preparing for a colonoscopy?
Answer: You may be able to do a prep with CoLyte, GoLytely or NuLytely since they don’t draw additional fluid or electrolytes out of your system. I would avoid any of the phosphate preps for that reason.
The nulytely types taste like seaweed no matter what you mix them with. What`s wrong with the age-old tap water enema three times before the test?
Enemas would not adequately clean the upper part of the colon. Something orally needs to be taken, and given your other problems, the options are limited.
