my 8 yr old daughter frequently has urine leakage when laughing/coughing, etc...she also will often wake up with some leakage in the morning..she doesn`t really have a "full accidents" but is often damp...what can i do? thanks.
"Stress" incontinence does not exist in healthy teenagers. A more common cause is infrequent voiding where a child will always have a partially full bladder. Also, there is a condition called giggle incontinence which can lead to leakage with laughter. Regardless, the first step is frequent urination to keep the bladder empty. Children with these issues need to void regularly even if they do not feel the urge to go. Keeping the bladder empty can often solve these problems.
