Severe scalp & head sweating11/16/2006 |
my husband experiences sweating of the scalp, hair and face uncontrollably to the point that he becomes totally wet above the neck, the sweat just pours from him. usually after a shower, getting dressed or for no known activity reason. He did have Malaria approx. 30-35 years ago - is this that coming back or could it be viral, bacterial in nature......its very uncomfortable for him, have any ideas -he is 55 and has respitory and hypertension problems as well. Can you help us? thank you !
What you describe is known to be part of a compensatory sweating process in most cases so that your husband's skin probably is relatively dry in other parts of the body, and the sweat glands are compensating in the head and neck. It is not an infectious disease but you may wish to have him evaluated by a board certified dermatologist since some metabolic diseases may result in the same group of signs and symptoms. Large medical centers have research and investigative dermatologists that might be of help to you in finding out the precise cause and solution.
