Uterus didelphys

11/14/2006

Question:

I was diagnosed with Uterus Didelphys (2 cervix, bicornate uterus and seperated vagina) about 15 years ago. I was told I would never conceive but breezed through 2 successful pregnancies with c-sections. What kind of risks do I have now that I am getting older and what should I expect for menopause. Also, am I at a higher risk for cervical cancer?

Answer:

Having a uterus didelphys does not put you at risk for any particular problems as you approach menopause.  Your risk of cervical cancer is not increased.  However, if you have two cervixes, you should have a Pap smear performed from each cervix when you are screened for cervical cancer.
