Oily scalp12/05/2006 |
Only the crown of scalp is extremely oily, costantly (right out of the shower). I`ve tried many products but nothing has even helped.
First, there is no good treatment to reduce oil production in any area of the body. Mostly, one needs to wash if off with soap and water or astringents, or alcohol pads and washes. There are a few medicines that can reduce oil production, such as hormonal therapies and isotretinoin, but these would not be used for your condition. You mentioned the scalp only was involved. Oil reducing options would depend upon whether you are male or female and bald or have a full head of hair. Also, the question that needs to be addressed is whether you have a “shiny scalp” or “oily scalp”. I recommend you see your board certified dermatologist if there are any questions.
