Sickle Cell Anemia |
Symptoms of the Sicle Cell Trait11/20/2006 |
Can haveing a trait but not the disease trigger sickle cell anemia symptoms? Are there any medical complications or further testing that I should look into for my child that has the trait as opposed to the disease? Thank you for your time.
In general sickle cell trait does not lead to severe complications but under extreme stress or dehydration one can have severe problems. If playing sports your child should be aware to stay fully hydrated and stay away from severe exertion in situations of extreme heat.
