Implantation bleeding? Early pms?

11/17/2006

Question:

i normally have my period at the end of the month or beganning of the month. so i had sex around the 11th morning and 12th morning and 13th early sunday morning. so monday the 14th i had these intense pelvic cramps that almost made me want to double over, i couldnt move i had a hard time breathing, even trying to poop hurt like hell. there was a little bit of pain on my side but mostly in my abdomen. after i layed down fro 8 hours the pain was gone. then later around midnight or so i noticed one brown reddish spot the size of a quarter in my undies. there was no more pain or spotting after that. i have had some nausea and my nipples are very tender, now these are signs of pms for me, but i have never had the spotting or pelvic pain like that before. im trying to hold off on the doc a few more days to see wht is going to happen. would you have any idea what this could be?

Answer:

It is difficult to say exactly what happened without an examination. However, by the information you provide, it sounds as if you were experiencing "mittlesmirtz" - pain felt during ovulation. You may also have had an ovarian cyst at that time which ruptured, which caused you so much pain. It is unlikely that the pain was due to implantation, but that does not mean that you did not get pregnant. If after a few days you do not have a period, a pregnancy test would be worth doing.
