Brown vaginal discharge

11/27/2006

Question:

Hello, i am 14 years old. I got my period on september 11th 2006 (or so i think it was my period, it was brownish liquid and lasted for 5 days, getting lighter and lighter before it stopped) and now (november 23rd) i got a brownish discharge in my underwear. I realized this when i went to the bathroom. But, i wiped and there was NOTHING on the toilet paper. And later on, nothing else came out. No more brownish discharge. I am very confused, and worried. I heard that a brownish discharge happens when your vagina is cleaning out old blood, but i don`t know? Please help me!! From, Worried

Answer:

When you are just beginning to menstruate, your periods may be very irregular, and the color can also vary.  It can take anywhere from 6-12 months, to know what your "regular" cycle might look like. I don't think you have anything to worry about.
