Breast Feeding

Dry and itching

12/04/2006

Question:

I been experinceing nipples skin irritation and I just notice that my nipples started drying up and started pilling. What can I do to prevent this ? and yes I`m currently pregnant.

Answer:

If your nipples are bright pink and itchy or burning and peeling, this could be a yeast (candida or monilial) infection.

This type of infection requires an antifungal cream, preferably one by prescription.

If you have shooting pains in your breasts, this will require an oral antifungal. This is not, however, recommended in pregnancy.
