the doctor`s tested my blood and said my iron level was 917. what all can cause this? they tested for hemochromatosis and that was not it
It is not clear which tests were performed by your doctor. Serum iron levels don't go as high as 917. I would have to suspect lab error if you are referring to a ferritin level. This test can be affected by inflammation due to over 100 different disorders and requires a fairly significant workup to find out the cause(s). I would need to know which tests were actually performed to rule out hemochromatosis in order to give you an adequate answer.
