Samter`s Triad12/14/2006 |
I`ve was diagnosed with Samters Triad (nasal polyps, asthma and aspirin sensitivity)at age 43. I had only a history of hayfever, never asthma. There is no cure, so far, only surgery every few years to remove polyps when they flare up. I have heard of aspirin densensitation, but few ENTs will perform. Any suggestions or any new ideas on this subject?
Since you do not have asthma, you do not have "Samter's triad." However nasal polyps are frequently associated with aspirin intolerance. Aspirin desensitization is sometimes successful in helping this condition. You need to seek a consultation at an allergy office or center where this treatment is offered.
