My son is two months old. His one of kidney 5.9 the other is 6.1. Is that normal? He had vcug. After test he had high fever three day. Is that normal? It came out he has no acid flex. What else can be causes kidney enlargement? He has been on amoxicillin a month. His doctor wants him on it till he sees urologist which another three months. I am worry about side effect of amoxillin on his liver.
Amoxicillin is a very safe antibiotic with very few side effects. It is the safest medication for newborns. We often see children these days with dilation of the kidneys detected even before birth. This often goes away on its own. Antibiotics are used to keep the child healthy while we wait for the kidneys to improve.
