WHAT ARE THE SIDE AFFECTS OF THE SHOT? ALSO IS IT NORMAL TO BLEED CONSISTANTLY AND HAVE CRAMPING WHEN YOU GO OFF THE SHOT?
You may experience abnormal bleeding once off of DMPA. It may take several months for your cycles to return to "normal". I use quotes around normal to mean that they will return to what was normal for you. Cramping is more likely too as the lining of the uterus is thicker without the DMPA. A thicker lining, means more shedding and more cramping. You could go on a birth control pill to control the bleeding and cramping. After about 4-6 months you can stop the pills to see if your cycles have returned to normal. they should return to "normal" quicker after oral contraceptives versus the DMPA.
