Crown necessary after root canal?01/16/2007 |
I am going to do a root canal on tooth #20, one of the back teeth. The tooth has no damage from outside, just infection down below - is it necessary to do a crown on it after root canal???
I am worried it may weaken the tooth. I`m leaning towards just doing a permanent filling? But my dentist seem admant about doing a crown afterwards.
A similar question has been answered previously. The link below will connect you to that answer.
In relation to this particular question, tooth #20 that you are asking about is a premolar. Also, sometimes if there is no visible damage to the tooth, there is a crack in the tooth that is creating problems. With a cracked tooth, a crown is a must.
