Addiction and Substance Abuse

Will seroquel cause a positive drug test?

02/14/2007

Question:

I am taking seroquel and keep coming up positive for cocaine on a urine drug test I am not using cocaine nor have I ever used cocaine. Can you tell me if this is possible.

Answer:

Seroquel is medication that is often "part of the solution," not part of the problem in the treatment of a variety of psychiatric disorders. Seroquel does not cause a positive drug test for cocaine. If you are using other street drugs, such as marijuana, it is possible that cocaine could be cut into the marijuana.
