What is `Prolonged` Use of Fosamax?
I stopped using Fosomax after 2 years because of the reported side effects. Fosomax did improve my bone density significantly. I have osteopena in my hips. I now have jaw pain. However, I did try wearing a dental appliance to correct sleep apnea, and the jaw pain occurred after that trial. Are there statistics or guidelines as to what "prolonged" use of Fosomax means? I used it for about 2 years.
There is no consensus on what constitutes long-term use of Fosamax, but most people would say far longer than 2 years. Their follow-up data out to 10 years appeared to be very safe.
