Immediate Tooth Replacement After Pulling02/14/2007 |
Is there something to use right after teeth have been pulled or do you have to wait for the heeling to take place.
Once teeth are pulled, a removable appliance can be placed in your mouth immediately after your teeth are taken out. If the teeth are pulled in an area in the mouth that others cannot see or that does not affect your eating, then you can wait till the gums heal before an appliance is made.
If the appliance is placed immediately when the teeth are pulled, the appliance has to be re-fitted regularly to up to 5 months as the gums continue to heal and shrink away. Once the dentist estimates that the gums are healed, the appliance can then be refitted or remade.
If the teeth are pulled and a new appliance is made before 5 months, then the appliance might be eventually loose as the gums do keep shrinking till about 5 months - plus or minus 2 months. The actual time is dependent on the person.
Hope this helps.
