Alzheimer's Disease in Young Adults02/28/2007 |
I am only 20 years old and lately have been completely forgetting a lot of things. I know its probably not Alzheimer`s because of my age, but I have forgotten soup on the stove, where the spoons are. I`ve even mistaken my car for someone else`s and try to get in it. I am not usually this ditzy. I really don`t feel stressed out or anything. I don`t know what could be the cause. Do you?
I am not sure of the cause of your cognitive issues. However, there are many potential causes that could be treated. The first thing to do is to see your doctor. They can consider endocrine (hormonal, thyroid, diabetes) issues, inflammation causes, toxic conditions (drugs, medicines, alcohol), kidney problems, liver problems, vitamin deficiencies, blood conditions, infections, depression, stress, trauma, and vascular or blood vessel conditions. A few blood tests and an interview may sort this out. Occasionally additional tests may be needed. Alzheimer's disease would be extremely unlikely to impossible.
Good luck.
