Exercise Tolerance04/06/2007 |
I have a myopathy with proximal and resp. muscle weakness. It also can affect the heart so I had an echo that showed- EF 45%,lt atrial enlargement, decreased lt systolic function. I also had a stress echo that showed poor exercise tolerance. In light of the underlying myopathy with dyspnea, fatigue etc.- is there anything I can do to improve the exercise tolerance? I have much myalgia and soreness after even mild activities. Thanks.
Unfortunately in cases of myopathies, there is not really anything you can do to improve your exercise tolerance. We usually use certain heart failure medications in patients who also have cardiomyopathy along with their skeletal muscle myopathy, however there is no data to support that the medications prove any benefit.
