Numerous blood draws for clinical research
06/05/2007 |
Question:
I am considering taking part in a clinical drug research trial. My blood will be drawn 51 times over the course of 6 weeks – sometimes as much as 9 times a day. Is this dangerous for the future health of my veins?
Answer:
This does not impart any danger to you or your veins but can occasionally cause scarring. I would recommend they draw from different veins over the course of the study so as to not cause scarring.
