Microalbumin/Creatinine Ratio

04/17/2007

Question:

What is the formula for the calculation of a random microalbumin/creatinine ratio?

Answer:

A ratio of greater than 30 milligrams of urine microalbumin/gram of urine creatinine is the threshold for further evaluation. Borderline results can be misleading since transient conditions such as fever or exercise can cause an elevation.
