04/16/2007

Question:

can a women get pregnant in two location at once, like in the tube and the uterus?if so how does this condition happen and how is it treated, also is there a way to keep the normal one in the uterus?

Answer:

You are describing a condition called heterotopic pregnancy. It is rare (1 in 20,000) but less so (1 in 150) if a woman is using fertility drugs. The treatment consists of removing he ectopic pregnancy and allowing the pregnancy in the uterus to develop normally.
