Dental Hygiene

What kind of training to you need to be a dental hygienist?

There are 2-3 year programs where you earn an Associates Degree and Baccalaureate Degree granting programs which are typically 3-4 years. Most of these programs also have prerequisite courses.

Each state has its own licensure requirement.  Typically, a dental hygienist must graduate from an accredited dental hygiene education program and successfully pass a national written examination as well as a state or regional clinical examination.

If you would like more information about the profession in general, a great site to visit is www.adha.org.

Hope that answers your question.  If not, please feel free to drop me another note.
