Urinary Disorders

Pain while Urinating

04/30/2007

Question:

Just recently I started to have some pain every time I would urinate. I`m only 21 years old. It is like a burning sensation. It doesn`t hurt real bad, but it does hurt a little bit and it is very bothersome. It is kind of worrying me though. Me and my girlfriend just started to have unprotected sex, do you think that has anything to do with it? Do you have any idea what this may be or any thoughts at all would be helpful?

Answer:

Pain or a burning sensation with urination is usually associated with infection. I would see your physician so an appropriate exam and cultures can be performed. Treatment will be based on findings obtained.
